I am a big Soprano's fan. I thought the show was very funny and had me rolling on the ground laughing sometimes. Especially when they would mess up common quotes like, "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Anyway, let me explain why I was thinking about the classic Tony Soprano misquote. I had just spent about 20 minutes trying to explain dog behavior to a very angry person. This person was upset with his dog because every time he leaves his house his dog destroys something. Today he was especially angry because his dog ate the TV remote. Add to this that his dog already destroyed his shoes, the corners of his coffee table and his couch cushions. And guess what? The behavior was getting worse. He was convinced that his dog was mad at him and doing it out of spite. I asked him how he handled the situation when he came home and found that his dog had chewed up something. He was honest with me and told me that he would yell and sometimes smack his dog. It was at this point that I tried explaining that dogs do have emotions. I don't care what anyone tells you, dogs are capable of experiencing fear, happiness, anger, etc. I strongly believe that dogs do have emotions BUT I also believe that dogs operate on a much more basic level than we do. When you look up the definition for spite it states: 1. A malicious, usually petty, desire to harm, annoy, frustrate, or humiliate another person; bitter ill will; malice. 2. A particular instance of such an attitude or action; grudge. 3. To annoy or thwart, out of spite. Spite, revenge, gratitude, etc. are much more complex emotions. Dogs truly live in the moment. Are dogs capable of revenge, spite, etc? None of us really know. But from my observations we often project our feelings and emotions on our dogs. It reminds me of another favorite quote from J. Allen Boone: "There are opinions about dogs and there are facts about dogs. We have all the opinions and the dogs have all the facts." When you leave your house your dog does not sit there and think about how mad they are that you left. What happens is that your dog is an extremely social animal that is hard wired to be with other dogs or humans. Because they are wired that way they become stressed when left alone. To relieve the stress they chew, usually on something with your scent on it. The dog owner comes home and finds some item has been chewed. It's not much fun to come home after a tough day and find your favorite pair of shoes destroyed. Out of anger and frustration the dog gets punished. But here's the rub and it's really ironic. Your dog does not associate the punishment with chewing your shoes your dog associates the punishment with your homecoming. If this happens enough times your dog will learn that homecomings are associated with punishment. Much the same way your dog can learn when it's time to eat if you feed at the same time every day. Much the same way as your dog can learn when your spouse is coming home, if they come home at the same time every day. Your dog can learn that when you come home they are going to get punished which leads to stress. Now destructive behavior can become a real problem because. Dogs relieve stress by. You guessed it. Chewing. See how the whole problem can spiral out of control. But. I couldn't get the guy I was talking to, to believe me. He wanted to think that his dog was getting revenge. Too bad, I really feel bad for the dog. Unfortunately it's hard for some people to think like a dog which is the real secret to dealing with behavior problems. Don't think like a human; learn to think like a dog. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe our dogs do walk around thinking: "How can I get back at him for leaving me here? What can I do? I got it, I'll chew his shoes and then to get him really, really mad I'll chew the TV remote, ha ha, that will make him mad. I'll show him for leaving me here." The great trainer Jean Donaldson states it perfectly when she said: "Expect your dog to act like a dog. Don't take it personally when he exhibits typical canine behavior. He's not being "bad," he's just being a dog.".

Skechers USA Inc. (NYSE:SKX) enthusiasts just heard appalling news: the shoes don't work and you have to exercise instead. It's probably no consolation that the Shape Up maker had expressed a lot of hope in recent years about its finances, too. The ads were certainly inspiring. Kim Kardashian breathily dumped her personal trainer for her hot pink Shape Ups in a Superbowl commercial last year. Brooke Burke said the newest way to burn calories is to tie your laces. The chiropractor Dr. Steven Gautreau cited an "independent" clinical study about the shoes' fitness benefits without also mentioning his marriage to a Skechers marketing executive; the company had paid him to conduct his research. After the Federal Trade Commission alleged that such practices are deceptive, the regulator said Wednesday that Skechers agreed to a $40 million settlement and customer refunds. Skechers' CFO David Weinberg vigorously denied the charges in a statement Wednesday. He said his team could have prevailed in vindicating the claims in court, but could not ignore the "exorbitant cost and endless distraction of several years spent defending multiple lawsuits in multiple courts across the country." Fair enough. But this isn't the only example of arguably optimistic statements made by the company. As the shoes grew in popularity, Skechers said its supplies in the year ended Dec. 31, 2010 were going to be worth $398.6 million once it sold them. Then the fickle masses began to lose interest and became more price conscious. In the year ended Dec. 31, 2011, Skechers' inventory sank to $226.4 million more in line with its value in earlier years. Management's optimism has manifested itself in other areas as well. Customers owed $182.7 million in 2011 that Skechers hadn't actually received yet but expected to collect within a year, or about 11% of the company's sales at the time. The proportion of Skechers' as yet uncollected revenues to its actual sales has risen each quarter since September 2010 and is above the industry median. The company also has more costs these days that it doesn't expect to include in its earnings until later. Its prepaid expenses have risen steadily for years and amounted to $88 million at year end 2011, compared to only $14 million in 2007. We give the company an F on its corporate governance, owing to factors such as the Greenberg family's ability to control the result of director elections and nearly all matters subject to shareholder vote. In part due to such factors, Skechers' financial statements reflect an AGR of 40 as of March, indicating higher accounting and governance risk than 60% of comparable companies. The score has dropped significantly since December 2010, when it was an unusually conservative 95. A Skechers' representative did not respond to a request for an interview within press time. To be fair, Skechers' CEO Robert Greenberg and his team have been trying to right the ship. He said on April 25 that sales during January, February and March were in line with the company's expectations given changes in retail trends. Noting efforts such as a continued focus on reducing Skechers' operating expenses and significantly lower inventory, he said he expects the company will return to profitability later this year. It lost $3.7 million in the first quarter compared to $11.8 million earned in the comparable period of 2011. Skechers has underperformed the benchmark index S SmallCap 600 since 2009 by a little more than 3%. Investors were pleasantly surprised after the news, and the stock jumped 13.7% to $16.96 per share on April 26. It has continued rising since to $17.85 per share intraday on Thursday. Hopefully this optimism will be more than adrenalin. Between pirating and streaming and legal downloads, there's almost no reason to own a television or hand over your hard earned cash to a cable company ever again. Unfortunately, these easy living good times don't extend to watching sports. NFL fans have it especially tough in that respect. Here are three reason why . To give credit where it's due, NBC's Sunday Night Football Extra is far and away the finest free online NFL coverage available. You get the entire game in great quality and can even choose from a variety of camera angles. And if the commercial break is longer than it takes to get through all three of the ads, you just get a static image informing you that coverage will resume shortly. You'll recognize it as the same image that's onscreen during any halftime "entertainment" which, for some reason, you're not allowed to watch. Again, not a big deal unless, say, you were viewing the first ever online broadcast of the Super Bowl, which anyone who did can confirm was completely devoid of Madonna's halftime antics. OK, fine, maybe this one isn't that bad after all. But wait until Thursday. 2. Thursday Night Football's "Live Look Ins" The NFL Network's online coverage of Thursday Night Football is easily the most frustrating online sports experience you could hope to have. Instead of broadcasting the entire game, which, being the NFL and all, they're more than capable of, they give you "live look ins." They are exactly what they sound like brief moments of actual live game footage interrupted with long stretches of coverage of three dicks in suits sitting around talking about the game that you only wish you were watching. No, really, we're having enough fun watching Kurt Warner talk. At some point in the second half, a Ryan Seacrest type comes on and fields trivia questions that, frustratingly, never solve the one riddle on everyone's mind by that point. Why is the guy from Sugar Ray on the NFL Network? Does the NFL really hate its fans this much? By the time that segment has ended, you've usually missed a good portion of the second half and the game is either so far out of hand that watching any further would be pointless or it's so close that you miss the conclusion trying to Google around for details about what happened while you watched the NFL Network's D list talent talk about Bronko Nagurski for 45 minutes. 1. The European Nuclear Option For the truly brave, there is a shady European website (we're pretty sure just linking to it is a violation of the Geneva Conventions) out there that will literally give you access to every sporting event on television at absolutely no charge to you. And all you have to do is navigate your way through a minefield of the most difficult to close, virus laden Internet ads you could ever imagine to get there. Those might look like regular pop up ads, but we assure you they are not. There are tricks and tactics employed here that will fool even the most savvy computer users. For example, one of the ads features a red "X" that moves the first time you try to click it. Another ad features a red "X" that is merely that; a red box with a white "X" in it. Clicking it will just launch the ad. Some ads can't be closed at all. You just have to refresh the screen and start the process over. Women Nike Free Run 4.0 V2 Dark Grey Cool Grey Volt Quilted,And party satraps in New Delhi are smelling an opportunity in this. They want to project AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi as a successful poll general, after his debacle in the 2012 Uttar Pradesh polls. The Karnataka experience will also be a dry run for Rahul to lead the Congress in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Realizing that the high energy and high decibel campaign of Rahul in the UP did not help the Congress, out of power there for many years, the party is eyeing a more favourable Karnataka to catapult him. Rahul has been interacting with state Congress leaders, who are working out strategies to bring the party back to power. According to party insiders, the Congress has been periodically conducting poll surveys on its prospects. The latest survey report of January this year is said to have given the Congress 111 seats (two short of the magic number of 113 for a simple majority in the House of 224 members), followed by the BJP (62), JD(S) (36), KJP (8) BSR (2) and the balance five getting distributed. Too much weightage to outsiders was attributed for the party's poor performance in UP. So the Congress here has decided to go slow on admitting migrants. "Sensing that the Congress prospects appear bright, many from north Karnataka are queuing up, but not everybody will get in,'' party sources said. As of now, KPCC president G Parameshwara has submitted names of 18 former MLAs, including four independents and one from JD(S) for admission into the Congress. In the ongoing civic bodies elections, some of these former MLAs have fielded their candidates in consultation with the local Congress leadership. The state unit has started the spadework for elections with the selection committee headed by Parameshwara meeting on March 16 and 17. "Of the 224 constituencies, barring a handful, all the sitting MLA will be renominated. For 100 constituencies there will be a panel of three names for each. Only 50 will be contentious seats where there will be pressure from all leaders,'' a senior leader said.
